Acquiring property: Ukrainian and foreign natural and legal persons, with or without foreign participation, may acquire property (only buildings) without restrictions. As far as the acquisition of land is concerned, a distinction is drawn between privatized and state-owned or municipial land, respectively.The latter are sold by tender. Acquiring state-owned or municipial land directly is only permitted if the piece of land already holds a building owned by the prospective buyer. The registration of a representation possessing the right of doing business within the Ukraine is a prerequisite for the acquisition of state-owned or municipial land by foreign persons.

Land registry: According to Ukrainian law, "property/building" and "land" are considered as separate subjects and entered into corresponding registries. A common land registry for all rights and constrictions is projected.

Taxes: There is no tax on buildings in Ukraine, only a land tax has to be paid. Rental income is subject to income tax. The sale of buildings or land with buildings is subject to value-added tax as well as rental income and tenancy of privately-owned land. The sale of untilled land is not subject to VAT.
